From Minute 91 we bring you the week in State Cup for the teams representing SOCCER AA.
There are 7 teams this year representing the Academy which brings us great price considering that last year the Academy only had one team representing it in State Cup.
For this story, we begin in Tampa, where the 2008 State Champion, our U16 - Real Madrid team started this Saturday with two wins. The morning’s game brought us our first victory 1-0 by a goal scored by our Captain, Fernando Begoña. In our second game, goals from Stefano La Rosa, Gabriel de Mola and our new arrival, Their Branco (Perucho) provided us our second win of the day and then Sunday arrived and our 2008 Champions with six starters injured obtained a 0-0 tie against last year’s opponent in the Final, Real Salt Lake. What a wonderful accomplishment for the pride of the Academy our U16 Real Madrid team who thanks to their hard work and commitment went through the first round directly into the round of 16 of the 2009 State Cup, leaving its second place rival to fight in the second round of the preliminary rounds onApril 4 and 5th to try and classify for the round of 16. The U18 Real Madrid also classified for the next round of 16 without any problems.
Next, we move to the U13 Real Madrid who went straight through to the round of 16 as well despite being in the group of death with three of the strongest teams in the State winning their first two games 2-1 with 2 goals provided in each game by Michael Patino (Michael Platini) and Jose Novas in the first game, and Chris Bared in the second. The third game which didn’t matter because they had already qualified to the next round, they lost to the number 3 team in the country and 2 in the State, FC Sarasota.
The U15 Real Madrid classified for the second round of the Preliminary Round to attempt qualification on April 4 and 5 despite having lost their first game 2-0, by winning their second game 2-1 and tying their third 2-2. Thomas Petriccone was the star of the U15s by scoring all four Real Madrid goals.
Also on Saturday afternoon, our U16 Castilla began its quest for the round of 16 where they were able to secure a tie 0-0 in their first game. Sunday would not be their day though. They were not able to capitalize on several opportunities and were not able to classify for the next round of the Championship.
Unfortunately, our U14 and U17 were not able to move through to the next round either. We are sure that there will be a next time for these very talented players. The SOCCER AA is very proud of all its teams for the hard work, dedication and commitment and for the behavior demonstrated by all the players representing the Academy and earning it an impressive 60% plus sucess rate in Florida’s 2009 State Cup.
On another note, we must salute the accomplishments of the U12 Real Madrid team who just recently represented the Academy in the “Disney President’s Day Weekend” and achieved a meritorious second place in their age group.
For our reporting on the European League championships going on, we have the win of Real Madrid over Hugo Sanchez’ Almeria 3-0. Despite a lackluster first half, Madrid’s Marcelo, had a splendid shot on goal taking the team into the locker rooms with a 1-0 lead. The second half, brought us a much more energetic and dangerous Madrid and provided us with some sparks through two goals by Holland’s K. Huntelaar. This win did nothing to reduce the lead established by Barcelona who left no doubt as to why they are leage leaders with their humiliating win against Malaga 6-0. Inter Milan can’t seem to loose, and its star, Ibra, establishes himself as one of the best players in the world scoring 2 goals and making things harder and harder for Juventus, who can’t catch Inter Milan despite demolishing Roma 4-1.
Incredible though as it may be Manchester United lost another three precious points in its standings in the EPL by loosing to Fulham 2-0 and having W. Rooney ejected for loosing his head as well as P. Scholes leaving Manchester with only 9 players on the pitch. Liverpool in the meantime continues to gain on Manchester with its impressive win against Aston Villa 5-0. Liverpool’s unstopable Captain, S. Gerard scoring 3 goals in this winning effort. At the moment, Liverpool is only 1 point behind Manchester and seeming unstopable.
Now for our IN and OUT section:
IN: Liverpool’s wondrous time who in 3 games has scored 13 goals, aginst oponents such as Madrid, Manchester, and now Aston Villa, lead by its Captain, S. Gerard who just this weekend scored 3 goasl. Watch out for the team who can be an executioner if you aren’t careful. As are Madrid and Milan.
OUT: W. Rooney’s shameful behavior by throwing a ball at the referee which caused his ejection from the game and seriously hurting his team by leaving them with 9 men on the pitch.

Desde el Minuto 91 les narramos la semana del STATE CUP, así es 7 equipos este año están representando SOCCER AA en el STATE CUP, lo cual nos llena de orgullo si pensamos que el año pasado solo se presento uno. Empezamos desde Tampa, con el campeón actual del Estado el U16 Real Madrid, el cual empezó este sábado con dos victorias, por la mañana en su primer compromiso venció 1 a 0 con gol del capi Fernando Begoña, en un juego bastante interrumpido por balonazos sin poder desarrollar el buen futbol del campeón y a segunda hora arrollaron por 3 a 0 con goles de Stefano La Rosa, Gabriel de Mola y en recién llegado Theís Branco (Perucho). El domingo, como en la final del año pasado frente al Real Salt Lake y con seis titulares lesionados empataron a 0 goles, un resultado que clasifica directamente a los cuartos de final a nuestros campeones, dejando que su adversario fuera a buscar la clasificación en el repechaje del próximo 4 y 5 de Abril. En la misma tarde del sábado a última hora, empezó su recorrido también el U16 Castilla, que en un juego forzado logró sacar un empate a 0 goles. El domingo no fue su día, desaprovecharon un par de ocasiones y no lograron clasificar para la siguiente ronda. El U 18 Real Madrid también clasifico para los cuartos de final directamente y sin problemas. El U13 Real Madrid ha hecho una gran azaña al clasificar directamente a cuartos de final pese estar en el grupo de la muerte con equipos fortísimos, ganando los dos primeros juegos con el mismo marcador de 2 a 1, con dos goles uno por juego de Michael Patino (Michael Platiní), uno de José Novas en el primer juego y uno de Chris Bared en el segundo, el tercer partido lo perdieron con el Sarasota, ubicado en el tercer puesto de toda la nación en su categoría, pero ya sin que el resultado tuviese importancia debido que ya habían obtenido la clasificación. El U 15 Real Madrid pese perder el primer juego 2 a 0 lograron la clasificación para el repechaje del 4 y 5 de Abril, al ganar el segundo juego por 2 a 1 y empatar el tercero 2 a 2, siendo Thomas Petriccone el jugador del torneo para el U15, por haber marcando los cuatro goles conseguidos. El U 17 y el U 14 fueron eliminados lamentablemente del torneo, será para una próxima oportunidad. De todas formas en SOCCER AA estamos todos muy orgullosos por esta participación de todos estos equipos y por el comportamiento de sus jugadores y entrenadores, dándole a la academia un porcentaje de éxito por encima del 60%.
Hay que destacar el triunfo del U12 Real Madrid, los cuales fueron con mucho orgullo nuestros representantes en el “Disney President’s Weekend”, logrando un formidable y honroso subcampeonato.
En cuanto a las ligas europeas, tenemos el triunfo del Real Madrid ante el Almería de Hugo Sánchez por 3 a 0, luego de un primer tiempo no muy brillante que Marcelo resolvió con un esplendido tiro que manda al descanso con victoria parcial de 1 a 0, en la segunda mitad se vio un Madrid mucho más activo y llego al resultado con dos goles del holandés K. Huntelaar, no logrando reducir la diferencia de 6 puntos del Barcelona que hoy dejo claro quién es el líder, humillando al Málaga con un neto 6 a 0. El Inter de Milán no para de ganar e Ibra cada día se consagra como uno de los mejores jugadores del mundo marcando hoy 2 goles y poniéndole las cosas cada vez más difícil a su seguidor inmediato la Juve que a pesar de golear la Roma 4 a 1 no pudo reducir los puntos de ventaja que mantiene el Inter. Increíblemente el Manchester United perdió otros tres puntos valiosos frente al Liverpool, al perder con el Fulham 2 por 0 y donde W. Rooney perdió la cabeza y fue expulsado, también corrió la misma suerte P. Scholes dejando su equipo con 9 jugadores, mientras que el Liverpool arrollo al Aston Villa por 5 a 0, con el imparable capitán S. Gerard que marco 3 goles y se le acerco a tan solo 1 punto al Manchester United.
Ahora la sección de lo IN y lo OUT:
IN: El momento esplendido que está atravesando el Liverpool, en 3 juegos a convertido 13 goles, nada más y nada menos ante el Madrid, el Manchester y ahora el Aston Villa, tomado de la mano del su capitán S. Gerard, anotando hoy otros 3 goles. Cuidado con este equipo en la Champions League, que es un verdugo, como los son el Madrid y el Milan.
OUT: La reacción de W. Rooney al tirarle el balón al árbitro provocando su expulsión y perjudicando al equipo de manera absurda dejándolo con 9 hombres.
