This past Easter Sunday was an excellent day to enjoy all the good things life has to offer together with family and friends. Minute 91 wishes you and your loved ones a year full of peace and love for all.
Now back to business with news on SOCCER AA‘s U15 team who during last weekend’s games in the STATE CUP moved to the next round by winning two very important and tough games. On Saturday they beat Weston 3-0 with two goals by Thomas Petriccone and a PK scored by Alejandro Martinez “Alejo” and Sunday aginst Bonita Springs 2-1 with another goal by the ever present threat in the box, Thomas Petriccone and one by Gustavo Palma “Gus” thus sealing what became a great weekend for these hard working boys. Great job guys, the Academy contractulates you and your Coach on your classification to the next round. This weekend coming up the Round of 16 and the quarterfinals of the 2009 STATE CUP begin, this week everyone needs to practice hard and attend every practice as it is once again, the premier event of the State and this is a great accomplishment for all those teams that moved on. Let’s bring on the most number of the our teams to the next round. One of the toughest games of this Round of 16 will be the U18 game against Wellington Wave I, but to win this tournament all must be won, no matter how intimidating your opponent is, if you love your colors no opponent is unsurmountable and will be beat.
This week brings us the quarter finals in the Champions Leage, and the surprises keep mounting up as Manchester United who was supposed to win with relative ease came up against an opponent who was motivated beyond what anyone thought possible and took home an impressive tie from their first encounter 2-2 in Manchester’s own field of dreams where all opponents fear going. The next surprise came from the near goalfest Chelsea inflicted upon Liverpool at home 3-1; and the not less surprissing win of Barcelona over Bayern Munich, not because they won, which was expected by because they couldn’t help but scoring, finally beating their opponent 4-0 with all 4 of the goals being scored in a nearly perfect first half before its fans, leaving a disconcerted Bayern Munich to have to somehow come back during the second half, but despite a much better second half, Bayern Munich finally sucumbed. Less surprising was the 1-1 tie between Villareal, playing at home vs. Arsenal. Stay tuned as April 14 & 15 will bring us the next round and we will be there to bring you the results in our next edition.
Throughout this week in the European championships there were no changes as most the teams at the top of their tables won, keeping the competition for the top spots alive. The only one who didn’t win this week was Inter Milan who lost to a resilient Palermo who was loosing 2-0 but never gave up and during the second half obtained an impressive tie in San Giro of all places. Despite their loss, Inter didn’t suffer the consequences as Juve who is right on its heals failed to take advantage of Inter’s misfortune by loosing themselves to Genoa 3-2 and giving Milan who gained 3 points on Juve and 2 on Inter an opportunity to gain in the standings who is very close to second place right now.
In Spanish news both our REAL MADRID and Barcelona won against their opponents 2-0 against Valladolid and Recreative respectively keeping the distance between each othr at 6 points.
In England Manchester United, Liverpool, Chelsea y Arsenal all won, keeping the tables the same, with one game back by Manchester who will play that game pretty soon and could move the 1 point difference it maintains from Liverpool from 1 point to 4.
Now for the IN and OUT:
IN: The minute of silence observed by all Italian teams in memory for the victims of the horrific and tragic earthquake measuring 6.5 on the Richter Scale which devasted the ancient city of L’Aquila en central Italy which killed 294 people and lost over 50,000 historical structures in a city which many that knew it thought was spectacular.
OUT: The embarrasing and incomprehensible behavior of “EL EMPERADOR” Adriano who failed to show up for practice with his club team INTER after their World Cup qualifiying games with Brasil, dissapering for three days in the dangerous shanty shacks in Rio de Janeiro called “Vila Cruzeiro” where he was spotted hanging out with unsavory friends from his youth apparently drinking and cohorting for three days as reported by the Brasilian newspaper, “Isto e Independente”. This behavior is a terrible example for millions of youth around the world who would love to have an opportunity like the one provided to Adriano, who has failed to capitalize on those opportunities because of his vices.

Este domingo de Pascua pasado, fue un excelente día para haberlo disfrutado y compartido con sus familiares y Minuto 91 les augura un año de paz y amor para todos.
Bueno ahora vamos con los comentarios de SOCCER AA que este fin de semana se nos unió un nuevo equipo en el STATE CUP, se trata del U15 que el fin de semana pasado logró dos importantes victoria para clasificar al torneo, venciendo el sábado 3 a 0 a Weston con dos goles de Thomas Petriccone y un penal marcado por Alejandro Martínez “Alejo” y el Domingo hicieron lo propio al vencer a Bonita Spring 2 a 1 con otro gol de del incansable Thomas Petriccone y uno de Gustavo Palma “Gus” para sellar la victoria, felicidades por la clasificación alcanzada a todos los jugadores y a su entrenador. El próximo fin de semana empiezan los octavos y cuartos de final del STATE CUP 2009, animo y no falten a ningún entrenamiento esta semana, para poder así llevar el mayor número de equipos de SOCCER AA a las semifinales de tan prestigioso torneo. Uno de los juegos más difíciles de los octavos de final, será el de nuestro equipo U18 que enfrentará a una escuadra sumamente fuerte como lo es el Wellington Wave I, pero para ser campeón hay que vencer a todos, no importa lo grande que parezca, si se juega por el amor a la camiseta ningún rival es demasiado fuerte y será vencido.
En la Champions League esta semana se realizaron los cuartos de final y no faltaron las sorpresas, como el Manchester United que tenía que imponerse con relativa facilidad ante el Porto, se encontró un equipo portugués muy motivado y con una garra impresionante, llevándose a casa un empate a 2 importantísimo, en el dificilísimo campo Ingles. La segunda sorpresa fue la casi goleada que le dio el Chelsea en casa del Liverpool por 3 a 1 y no menos sorpresa fue la victoria del Barcelona al Bayern Múnich, no por haber vencido que eso se esperaba, sino por haberlo goleado 4 a 0 y con los 4 goles en el primer tiempo, disputando un primer tiempo perfecto ante su público a un Bayern Múnich desconcentrado y que solo se recuperó en el segundo tiempo, donde vimos un juego mucho más equilibrado, que era lo que se esperaba de este encuentro. Mientras más normal y lógico fue el empate del Villareal en su campo ante el Arsenal a 1 gol por bando; el próximo 14 y 15 de Abril se estará disputando los juegos de vuelta de los cuartos de final, estaremos atentos a los acontecimientos.
Mientras en los varios campeonatos Europeos no hubo cambios, casi todos los lideres y perseguidores vencieron dejando invariada la lucha por los diferentes títulos, el único que no ganó fue el Inter de Milán, que se dejo alcanzar de un neto 2 a 0 en el primer tiempo, por un Palermo que en el segundo tiempo y lejos de sentirse derrotado, lucho hasta el final y consiguió un valioso empate en el mismísimo San Siro, pero el Inter se encontró favorecido porque su seguidor, la Juve, perdió en Génova frente al Genoa por 3 a 2, dejando alejar al Inter de 2 puntos más, mientras que el Milan recupero con su victoria, 3 puntos a la Juve y 2 puntos al Inter de Milán, acercándose al segundo lugar de la tabla. En España tanto nuestro Madrid como el Barcelona vencieron los dos por 2 a 0 al Valladolid y el Recreativo respectivamente, no dándole chance a sus perseguidores de acercárseles y mantienen la diferencia de 6 puntos entre ellos. En Inglaterra tanto el Manchester United, Liverpool, Chelsea y Arsenal vencieron, dejando intacta la clasificación, pero con el Manchester United con un partido menos por disputar, por lo tanto podría aumentar la diferencia de 1 punto que mantiene ante el Liverpool en estos momentos.
Ahora la sección de lo IN y lo OUT:
IN: El minuto de silencio y el luto que portaron todos los equipos italianos por el trágico terremoto de 6.5 grados en la antigua ciudad de L’Aquila en Umbria, donde fue arrasada por el sismo y donde murieron 294 personas y se desplomaron más de 50.000 históricas estructuras de una ciudad que quién la haya conocido, era simplemente espectacular.
OUT: Lo insólito y mal comportamiento de “EL EMPERADOR” Adriano, que luego de no presentarse ante su equipo el INTER después de los juegos de clasificación para el mundial que disputo con Brasil, desapareció por tres días en unas peligrosísimas favelas de Rio de Janeiro llamadas “Vila Cruzeiro” donde fue visto con viejos amigos de la infancia de mala reputación y donde parece estuvo bebiendo por tres días, según lo narra un periódico Brasilero "Isto é independente”, este comportamiento es de pésimo ejemplo para millones de jóvenes, que le gustaría tener una oportunidad como la que se le presento a Adriano y que no supo aprovechar por sus vicios.
