Summer vacations have begun and with that the trips to different countries and places. Our U18s, Hugo Flores, Mario Monge and Juan Rodriguez traveled to the famed “MACALLISTER” soccer academy in Argentina thanks to a partnership between our academy and MACALLISTER. They will be working there for the next forty-five (45) days and on July 24 and 25th they will be going through the try-outs process. Good luck to those first youngsters from our Academy to make it to a profesional try-out process and who have worked so hard throughout the years for this well deserved opportunity.
Our U13s are in Spain playing friendlies against the Real Madrid, Mahadahonda and Rayo Vallecano U13 squads as well as participating in the Madrid Oeste tournament. And the U10s will be traveling to the “DONOST” tournament in San Sebastian Spain in July.
Also of interest here in the United States was the game between our U16s and the Haitian National U16 squad who were defeated 2-1 with goals being scored by Stefano La Rosa and Alejandro Jr. Rodriguez. Haiti’s only goal came in the second half.
Very happy news being brought to you by Minute 91 is Real Madrid’s new Presidency of Mr. Florentino Pérez. You may recall that it was during Mr. Pérez’ prior presidency that the dream of our Academy became a reality. Hopes of a new time of expansion for SOCCER AA follow this wonderful announcement of President Pérez’ new reign. Our President, Ismael Roque Velasco, “ISH” recently announced through El Nuevo Herald the upcoming visit of two of soccer’s greats, France’s “ZINEDINE ZIDANE”, counsel to President Pérez, and Spain’s “EMILIO BUTRAGUEÑO”, Director of Intitutional Relations for Real Madrid FC to our wonderful city in October or November of this year. These gentlemen are traveling to our Academy to announce a new program wherein the youth of our community will be awarded scholarships to our Academy.
We also bring you the news of our upcoming IV REAL MADRID SOCCER CAMP in Miami during the week of July 20, 2009 which will once again bring you coaches directly from Real Madrid FC and the camp being held in August in the island of Aruba, the beautiful and exotic jewel in the Caribbean.
The internaional scene brought us the begining of the “CONFEDERATIONS CUP” who boasts with the participation of World Cup Champions, Italy; Champions of Europe, Spain, and representing South America, Brasil ; North America, the United States, Africa, Egypt; Asia, Iraq; and Oceania, New Zealand with the hosts of this year’s “CONFEDERATIONS CUP” and next year’s “WORLD CUP” bringing up the rear, South Afrida. As of the writing of this edition, all teams have already played their first games as follows: RSA 0 - 0 Iraq; Spain 5–0 New Zealand; Brasil 4 - 3 Egypt; and Italy 3 – 1 EEUU.
Now for the IN and OUT:
Our IN section this week is dedicated with love to EDGAR JIMÉNEZ who this year, coached our U16 squad. Edgar is a simply exceptional young man, unconditional friend, dedicated to his work and his team, loved by all who met him and to whom I wish to extend my most heartfelt thank you for training our boys. All the parents of the U16 team agree that in Edgar we saw a outstanding and intelligent young man who extracted from all of us imeasureable respect, now just for the work he performed but for the dedication and love he demonstrated in doing it and to whom I personally apologize for any problems which may have occured throughout the year, but I can tell you that our boys are better off today because of your demands and the seriousness you demanded and instilled in them through your practices. Our hope is that upon your return to Spain you get all the wonderful things you deserve and to let you know that you will always have the doors of our Academy open to you and that you have left many friends behind. Edgar, we will miss you and love you,

MINUTO 91
Empezaron las vacaciones y los viajes en diferentes lugares, del U18, Hugo Flores, Mario Monge y Juan Rodríguez, viajaron a Argentina a la afamada academia “MACALLISTER” gracia al trabajo conjunto con nuestra academia. Estarán trabajando 45 días y luego los llevarán a los “Try Outs” el 24 y 25 de Julio, suerte a estos tres jóvenes que han trabajado duro y merecen una oportunidad. También el equipo de U13 se encuentra de gira por España y en Julio irá el U10 a la copa “DONOSTI” en San Sebastián. Otro evento interesantes pero en tierra americana, fue el juego entre la selección de Haití U16 y nuestra selección mixta de los U16 donde volvimos a dar cátedra de fútbol al vencer por 2 goles a 1, abriendo el marcador Stefano La Rosa y asegurando el juego Alejandro Jr. Rodríguez, ya en el segundo tiempo llegó el gol de Haití.
Otra noticia que le trae el Minuto 91 muy interesante, es la presidencia obtenida por el Sr. Florentino Pérez al Real Madrid, cosa que nos contenta mucho considerando que en la gestión anterior del Sr. Pérez es cuando conseguimos consolidar el sueño de esta academia, que ahora es más que una realidad y con el Sr. Pérez en la presidencia, tendremos sin lugar a dudas una nueva etapa de expansión para SOCCER AA. Nuestro presidente Ismael Roque Velasco “ISH” anunció a través del “EL NUEVO HERALD” que entre Octubre y Noviembre tendremos el honor de hospedar en nuestra ciudad al afamado jugador francés “ZINEDINE ZIDANE”, consejero del presidente Pérez y el no menos afamado jugador español “EMILIO BUTRAGUEÑO”, director de asuntos institucionales del Real Madrid, que entre otras cosas fue el jugador que vino en representación del Real Madrid a inaugurar nuestra academia. “ISH” dijo que con la visita de ellos se anunciará un programa de becas para que los niños y jóvenes de menores recursos puedan practicar en las actividades de la academia. Entre otras cosas el 20 de Julio empezará el IV Campamento del Real Madrid en Miami con la presencia habitual de entrenadores merengues y en el mes de Agosto también se realizará el I Campamento del Real Madrid en la exótica isla de Aruba, en el corazón del mar Caribe.
En cuanto al panorama internacional, dio inicio la “CONFEDERATIONS CUP” de naciones, donde participan el Campeón del Mundo Italia y los campeones de Europa España, de Suramérica Brasil, de Norteamérica Estados Unidos, de África Egipto, de Asia Irak, de Oceanía Nueva Zelandia y el anfitrión de la copa y del próximo mundial Suráfrica. Ya hicieron su debut todos los equipos y los favoritos empezaron todos ganando, el anfitrión empato a cero goles con Irak, España goleo a Nueva Zelandia 5 a 0, Brasil gano 4 a 3 a un batallador Egipto e Italia le gano a un Estados Unidos, que empezó ganando pero no pudo con la arremetida de la escuadra Azzura perdiendo por 3 a 1.
Hoy la sección de lo IN y lo OUT, es dedicada a EDGAR JIMÉNEZ.
IN: Dedico este espacio a Edgar Jiménez, coach del U16 de este año, un muchacho simplemente excepcional, amigo incondicional, dedicado a su trabajo a su equipo, querido por todos y en lo particular le doy gracias por haber entrenado a mi hijo y extiendo esta gratitud de parte de todos los padres del U16 Real Madrid que consiguieron en él un muchacho sencillo, donde logró que todos dentro del equipo lo respetaran por lo que es y le pido perdón en mi nombre y del equipo, por algunos malos momentos en especial por la puntualidad, pero valió la pena porque estoy seguro que nuestros hijos han aprendido de sus exigencia y seguramente serán mejores personas en el futuro. Esta dedicatoria es por su retorno en España y haciéndole saber que tiene las puertas abiertas no solo en la academia, sino de cada uno de los que compartimos con él una linda experiencia.
