West Pines Tournament
Hala Madrid! Hala Madrid! Great Weekend for our Teams!

We have a lot of reasons to say “Hala Madrid” after watching our teams compete this weekend. 12 of our teams participated in the traditional October tournament The West Pines Kick Off Classic and 5 of them made it to the finals,  bringing back 3 championships.

Our U-11 Castilla went undefeated after beating 2 Weston Teams, Cooper City and the Ft. Lauderdale Select team in the finals 4-0. Our congratulations to this team that is up and coming, under the technical direction of Coach Libardo Perdigon.

The U-13 Team also known as “Los jugones / the playmakers”, played some beautiful soccer reaching the final after great games against Plantation and Palm Beach, but the final was the story to tell. After going down by one goal, our team started to touch the ball like they have accostumed us to. Playing a well organized and solid Weston Team, we tied the score with a header by Michael Patino who received a beautiful cross from the right side from Danny Foen. The 2-1 came from a payback when Patino returned the favor and gave a death pass from the end line to Foen who placed the ball out of the reach of the Weston Goalkeeper. That play had a total of 12 touches. The 3-1 came from a solid free kick shoot by Jose Novas and after that the team defended the score. Weston did not give up and scored late making this a hard fought final until the last second. Here, we can say that  the hero was the entire team lead by the coaching of Quique Guijarro and Gibran Tevar.

The U-14 Real Madrid team had an amazing run at the championship starting with the  5-0 against Doral Milan. The final paired us against the defending Florida State Champions, West Pines United, a team that beat us at our International Tournament back in August and had finished beating Kendall Coalition 3-1, in the previous game. Our team played a very smart and organized first half, touching the ball, opening the game and showing a strong defense that lasted all the way throughout the game. We went ahead in the first half with a goal by Dennis Tomassi. The second half was full of scoring opportunities well defended by an incredible performance from our Goalkeeper, Juan David. The team kept a well structure defense and was able to pull the upset beating a very strong West Pines team. Our congratulations to Coach Carlos Gonzalez and Danny Rodriguez, as well as the whole team.

Also our U-17 and U-9 teams were able to make it to the finals. Our U-17 team only received one goal against and that was during the last 5 minutes of play during the finals. We had shootout teams like Weston, West Pines and Davie United to reach the finals. Congratulations to coach Leo Stabridis, the goalkeeper Facundo and the boys for a job well done. The U-9 Real Madrid coach by Tanger had a run at the championship having to play 3 games on Sunday. Congratulations to all the Academy teams for representing our colors with passion, integrity and dedication.

Also we would like to inform our academy family that all of our older teams participating in the Early Season Championships made it to the league playoffs, except for our U-18 that are still in competition with one game remaining but still has chances of qualifying.

We would like to congratulate the U-14 Real Madrid, U-15, U-16 Real Madrid and Castilla and the U-17 for a job well done in the South Florida United League, we are looking forward to the playoffs. Our remaining teams start the regular season this Saturday November 1st.

Final note, Real Madrid beat Athletic Bilbao 3-2 at Santiago Bernabeu Stadium this Sunday.
